muse.

I've been living in a shadow since the day I lost my muse
I've been adrift in foreign water on what started as a pleasure cruise
I don't know where I misplaced her, I only know I'd better find her soon
I'll surely perish where I'm standing if I keep whistling the same old tune

I haven't gotten out much lately, but I know one thing for sure
That I suffer from a silent illness and my muse will bring the cure
She brings me vigor when I'm tired, she gives me shelter in a storm
She is substance in the void, she molds the chaos into form

I thought she might be in the forest, so I got myself a pack and tent
I got all my supplies together and into the woods I went
I sat beneath a majestic oak and watched reflections in a quiet stream
But my muse she is a tricky one, she sleeps inside a waking dream

I went to look beside the ocean in the sound of the crashing waves
Where I'm reminded of her heartbeat and her voice as my soul she saves
The scene was very soothing, the soft sand caressed my feet
But in the end I stood in silence, my savior I did not meet

I haven't gotten out much lately, but I know one thing for sure
That I suffer from a silent illness and my muse will bring the cure
She brings me vigor when I'm tired, she gives me shelter in a storm
She is substance in the void, she molds the chaos into form

I was languishing in darkness when a vision filled my mind
My muse was never hiding, not some treasure that I must find
I won't find her on some journey or in the pages of a righteous book
She is always right beside me if I'm willing just to take a look
